Racism or Resentment?

As a nation wanting to embrace change and diversity, for years (alongside the USA) we have been trying to lead by example and show the world, that a multi cultural country is the way forward for modern day civilizations.

Show casing just how far we have all come in the fight against prejudice and racism.

Those old outdated problems now being a thing of the past to most Britains (and Americans) who are forward thinking and world leaders in advocating human rights.

This for many years was a true reflection of how it was and a concept many of us believed in and wanted to work.

However something went seriously wrong along the way and now it seems prejudice against a multi cultural nation (labelled racism) is clearly a bigger issue in the UK (and USA) than propaganda would let us believe until the rise in popularity of Nigel Farage, leading Britains to vote to leave the EU (and Donald Trump being elected as the president of the USA) meant it could no longer be ignored.

It is really racism though that is driving these huge turnarounds in the public perception being no longer pro multi culturism or is this down to resentment that in reality many multi cultural societies have failed and along the way has caused the loss of identity of a nation that for many generations was something to be proud of.

 .    .
Either way being resentful of losing part of the identity of what Britain once stood for is frowned on if expressed openly and not an option in the new multi cultural way of life for fear of causing offence and being branded a racist.

To express a view other than multi cultural living is working and uniting the nation would have us labelled as ignorant and uneducated bigots!

The odd person who did try to voice this opinion, categorically stating it was not racially motivated and only a stand for old british tradition and heritage were constantly challenged and accused of racism and silenced. Making it difficult for others who could see their point shamed into believing they too would be considered a racist bigot which is something that could end up being quite detrimental and damaging to them, even effecting their career.

As a nation we have been conditioned to show how diverse and accepting of other cultures we are in every way we can. Ensuring all other cultures and their religious holidays are honoured and respected while at the same time allowing the traditions and religious views of our heritage to be toned down and where possible changed to accommodate the multi cultural Britain.

A step too far in the eyes of many with too many sacrifices being made to the age old core British traditions in comparison with the sacrifices made by the other cultures we openly welcomed to form part of cultural Britain.

For many this one sided compromise has resulted in feelings of resentment and pent up anger which have only escalated in frustration that to air these views freely is no longer an option, Leaving many feeling they no longer have the right to freedom of speech as to voice these opinions would end up with you being classed as racist.

When Nigel Farage first spoke out suggesting that immigration was a big issue and we should close our borders and celebrate and embrace our British heritage, the Government was in uproar and he was branded a racist. He was threatened, hated and even told he was not welcome in this country with those views. His views apparently being at odds with the views of the majority of British citizens as the media portrayed.

Many, however did agree with his views it would seem, but  many, could not express this publicly for fear of retribution. This was proven when to much surprise to the media his views were endorsed as a true representation of what the country really felt in the elections and ratified when the public voted to leave the EU.

The same was to happen in the USA. When Donald Trump announced he would run for President, the whole world laughed. On disclosing as part of his election campaign he was intending to close American borders to Muslims until Terrorism was contained, there were calls to ban him from coming to Britain with cries of outrage and disgust at his racist views.

From the outset, it was never even a consideration that a country as advanced and powerful as America would entertain such primitive views from a racist bigot with no political experience.

However, it would seem that despite outwardly, the USA were anti his views, this was clearly not the reality and the American people, just like the British, were harboring  the feelings of resentment towards multi cultural living that is taking more than it gives.

I am not a racist but I do feel resentment these days after many years of seeing the demise of British culture, tradition and heritage with an influx of immigrants, some of whom have no respect for such things.

Even as I write this article, I fear being misunderstood with the accusations of being dubbed racist and the consequences that brings. It is resentment yes but not racism I assure you. The resentment I would expect other cultures to feel if the shoe was on the other foot!

I believe that every human being, regardless of colour, religion, culture or status should be welcomed in any country. The country you choose to live in though should be one you can respect by embracing and honoring their traditions and cultures without compromising your own.

In too many cases, the motives for wanting to live in the UK are without doubt very wrong and not in keeping with the spirit of multi cultural ideals and certainly not with the love and respect of the country at the heart of it.

Sadly many have seen living in the UK (and USA) as a means to an end and a soft touch to gain a better life without having to put in much effort to obtain.

I have come across immigrants from Asian and Eastern European countries who make no secret of the easy life being the only reason for living in the UK, even expressing a dislike of the UK despite having a home to live in and claiming benefits.

Some Eastern Europeans and Asians I have met who are here and working again make no secret of the fact they are only here to earn money that they send straight to their families still living in their home country.

This is not just the fault of the immigrants who are taking advantage. As despite it being ethically wrong on their part, who would not be tempted by a country that could and does offer you it all expecting absolutely nothing in return.

The UK is a nation that not only will go to extremes to accommodate any religious belief, it is a nation that literally will also provide immigrants with actual accommodation by way of government funded housing, as well as access to monetary benefit and all services that any other British citizen is entitled to.

All the same rights as any British citizen will be given to any immigrants on entry. This even being over and above in same cases.  The non English speaking immigrants being catered for by not only offering them the opportunity to learn English but ensuring that those who choose not to learn the language (which are many) have everything they need made available to them in the language they speak.

The opportunity to live in a nation that will provide a home, money to live on, free health care and free schooling with the added appeal of allowing the freedom to live by the culture and religion of the country of origin made readily available and all offered on the terms that this is your right on entry would be too good to pass up for anyone. Sadly bringing with it immigrants that would never wish to live in the nation otherwise and making it hard for those who sincerely want to be here for the right reasons.

The governments of our nations have sadly brought this upon us and have created the situation by being too accommodating and generous to all other cultures and religions of the world without considering the impact this would and has had on the very nations they were elected to protect and serve.

To now remedy this situation and balance the equilibrium is to be no easy task but a task nonetheless that has begun.  This already has brought with it fear and uncertainty but I can see nothing to fear for those of us (whatever religion or culture) that want only to live in a nation we truly love and want to be proud of.

Of course those that are only here for the free ride with no desire to integrate and commit to making this nation great again by working together to stamp out terrorism, resentment and foul play have every reason to fear the future living in a nation that will no longer tolerate them.

  1. My sentiments exactly! We are afraid to be patriotic for fear of being labelled as racist. I am a believer in the saying 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do', which means wherever you are in the world, resect their traditions and culture and do not expect to change them to suit your own agenda. I have read similar views as yours in the media so you're only expressing what a lot of people think. It's very easy for the liberal luvvies to connect resentment to racism but that's because they are so blinkered in their views that they can't or won't see the difference! I could go on and on, but you have said it perfectly! X

Well written, and I whole heartedly agree but the migration from the eastern europe, Africa, Middle east and Asia is because they all come from a supressed country thats full of corruption, greed and depression.

There own governments won't look after them, in fact most of them want to kill them. We are just lucky enough to live in one of the only countries in the world where you actually have the right of freedom of speech.

The people who call people a racist are in fact a racist themselves generally speaking regardless of there back ground. They use this term to loosely and forget all of the sacrifice our country men and women through many wars have fought racism for them to even have the right to talk freely. Which they certainly wouldn't beable to do in there birth country. As they know all to well, they would bring shame on there family and friends. And highly likely be Flogg in public or executed.

We as a country are not a racist race, we are a warm hearted race. Who only wishes the rest of the world could see it as we do, instead of all the greed, we are and always be welcoming to people in, as that what we believe in, a safe place for anyone, but once advantage of our nations good faith is taken, they should be kindly ask to leave or face the consequences. As our rights as the host! Long live the Lions Heart in all of us British! ;)
