Harpenden's two famous residents

The two Westfield children who both grew up to be famous worldwide;

This story to follow is bizarre, however it is extremely interesting that two people from Harpenden of a similar age group  who lived a stones throw away from each other in Westfield Road growing up, would both end up to be as equally well known and household names in the UK and  globally for entirely different reasons.
Who they are;

One of them being Joe Lenzie (born 1990) of Sigma, now a huge
international celebrity in the music business who has had many hit records and two number ones so far.

Sigma is the most successful drum and bass music duo of all time and the only drum and bass act to top the charts. They have worked with big names such as Take That, Palamo Faith and Rita Ora and have even performed on the X Factor).

Until just recently Joe was still living with his mum in Westfield Road and making his music in a shed at the bottom of the garden.

Quite a contrast from the other infamous name associated with Harpenden who also  lived in Westfield Road as a child at the same time when Joe was growing up there too I believe.

This being Joanna  Dennehy, Britains most dangerous female serial killer (born 1984).

In 2013 Joanna Dennehy murdered three men in Peterborough by stabbing them to death before dumping their bodies in ditches outside of the area.
The murders later being dubbed as 'the Peterborough ditch murders'.

Joanna bizarrely, was making headline  news at the very same time that Joe was making the headlines for his music!

On 28th February 2014 Joanna Dennehy was convicted of all three murders and two further attempted murders.

Less than a month later on 24th March 2014, Sigma released 'nobody to love' their first number one record shooting them to fame.

I find this fascinating, as what are the chances of two people from the same small town who grew up in the same street at the same time  both gaining such huge notoriety simultaneously in totally opposing ways!

Uncanny to say the least and a weird occurrence unlikely to ever happen again.
