Wagging tails chapter 3 "bath day"

"Lulabell, I think we need to give you a bath later"! Tamster stated while giving me a rather enjoyable ear rub.
Now I was not too sure at this point what a bath was but I got the feeling it wasn't going to be a good thing.
As the day went on it had left my mind as I went about my business just like any other day!
Food, nap, snack, nap, snack, belly rub, nap, snack, snack, food, nap....... you get the picture!
As if my day had not been exhausting enough already there it was again. The bath thing!
"Lulabell, its bath time!" Tamster informed me.
"Come on, let's get you all clean and smelling as fresh as a daisy"! She said as she stood up and beckoned me to follow.
Why anyone would think smelling like a daisy was a good thing is a mystery to me.
Personally I am not a fan of how any flowers smell! I happen to think the only time they give off a smell that is appealing to me and all other dogs is when we have drenched them in piddle. A scent far more sweeter smelling...
Off I followed anyway into the small room in the house that normally I would have no reason to enter.
This room Tamster calls the bathroom was for the use of you human creatures only I thought!
I have no idea what you humans use it for as Tamster would go into that room alone and shut the door. On some occasions when she was in there for a long time I would hear the most strangest noise which Tamster calls singing.
In fact I only know two things about the bathroom.
1. It was a room you go to sing in and
2. a room that seemed to cost money to enter.

I only know this as Tamster often says she is going to spend a penny before heading off to the bathroom.

I was not too sure what to expect from this room or whether dogs could enter for free seeing as I had no pennies to spend in there. When I entered without money that bathrooms must be free for dogs after all.
Deciding to take full advantage of my free pass to the bathroom I took no time in getting the feel of the place which in all honesty wasn't long.
A little room with a few shiny white objects in it.
Of course the one white object I was drawn to by smell was not the object I was allowed to explore for long before Tamster ushered me away when I tried to drink the water it had in the middle of it. Perhaps seeing as I had not paid my penny I was not allowed to drink there.
At first the big white shiny long box with a little bit of water in the bottom did not seem so bad for this bath thing to take place. So when Tamster nodded for me to jump in, I did so without a second thought.
This bath thing wasnt so bad I thought as I got ready to jump back out again.
How wrong I was as this was only the beginning and my bath was yet to happen.
Just as I made the move to get out, Tamster blocked my escape and started to pour the water over my fur.
As quickly as I could shake it off more was being poured onto me.
Well if you think that was as bad as it could get then you will be as shocked as I was by what followed.
Before I could bark the words "get me out of here, I'm a dog"! I was being covered by a terrible smelling liquid that when rubbed into my fur turned into masses and masses of white foam that completely covered me making me look like a large round snowball!
Fearing I would stay looking this way forever I tried to make a run for it but each time Tamster scuppered my attempts to escape.
How could she do this to me when I thought we were best friends!
The only thing left for me to do was to try and reason with her through whimpering loudly. Thankfully she understood my desperation and started to wash away all the white foam from my fur. Not as quickly as I had hoped though but eventually it was all gone.
"There there Lulabell, that wasn't so bad was it?" Tamster told me as she dried me off with a towel.
Annoyed by her being totally unaware of just how awful it had been for me, I wanted to get away from her and away from that room as fast as I could.
Realising that this time she was not going to stop me, she stood aside and I ran away without looking back.
I did not stop running until I was safely outside and at the top of the garden.
Now the only thing I had to sort was to get back those smells that the white foam had stolen from me.
A few rolls in the grass just wasn't enough so I added a few rolls in the mud to my mission to smell like me again....
